There were some spaces missing. It's easy to work around, so I did — I added <kbd>&nbsp;</kbd> in a few places. This has been a problem for a while and I just work around it each time. After I finished the project, I decided to dig into the root cause.\n</p>\n<p>\nIn this example it's ok to remove the spaces between <code></li><li></code> but it's <em>not</em> ok to remove the spaces between <code></i> <b></code>. And it's often ok to collapse multiple spaces into one, but <em>not</em> inside <code><pre></code> or <code><script></code>. It's tricky.
