error-ex is a Rust crate designed for those who desire clear, explicit, and easy-to-use error creation and handling.

The Goal of this create si to provide the following functionalies

Dead Simple Error Definition: Error definition at will!
Explicit Error Creation: Convienently construct your own error types with associated messages.
Error Mapping: Effortlessly map one error type to another, enhancing clarity and context.

Installation

Add this to your Cargo.toml:

Quickstart

Creating and instantiating Explicit Errors

use error_ex::{create_error, map_to_error};

create_error!(InputError => IllegalArgument, InvalidInput, MissingArgument);

Now, you can use the following code to instantiate this error

InputError::IllegalArgument(format!("Your message here")) to create an error.

Error Mapping

The explicit way

    let asset = fs::read_to_string(path).map_err(|error| {
        SchemaError::IoError(format!("SchemaError::IoError cased by {error}"))
    })?;

The above code can be simplified using map_to_error! macro

let result: Result<(), Error> = Err(Error("Test".to_string()));
let mapped_result = result.map_err(map_to_error!(InputError::IllegalArgument));
