## Executive Summary
Security audit completed for the embeddenator-fs component prior to extraction from the monorepo. **2 unsafe blocks identified** in fuse_shim.rs, both approved as safe POSIX system calls.
**Modules Audited:**
- `src/embrfs.rs` (1,883 LOC) - No unsafe code
- `src/fuse_shim.rs` (1,262 LOC) - 2 unsafe blocks (APPROVED)
- `src/correction.rs` (530 LOC) - No unsafe code
**Total:** 3,675 lines of code, 2 safe unsafe blocks.

## Audit Methodology
1. **Automated scanning** - grep search for `unsafe` keyword
2. **Manual code review** - Context analysis of each unsafe block
3. **POSIX API verification** - Validation of libc call safety
4. **Platform compatibility** - Unix/Linux system call analysis

## Findings
### embrfs.rs - ✅ SAFE
**Purpose:** Core holographic filesystem implementation (EmbrFS).
**Key components:**
- `EmbrFS` - Main filesystem structure
- `Engram` - Holographic encoding container
- `Manifest` - File metadata and structure
- Hierarchical encoding/decoding
- Chunk management and bundling
**Memory safety:**
- Pure Rust implementation
- No pointer manipulation
- Safe standard library collections (HashMap, BTreeMap, Vec)
- RwLock for thread-safe access
**Verdict:** No unsafe code, fully safe Rust.

### fuse_shim.rs - ✅ SAFE (2 unsafe blocks)
**Purpose:** FUSE filesystem interface and platform integration.
#### Unsafe Block #1: getuid() - Line 132

**Context:** Default file attributes initialization
**Analysis:**
- **System call:** `libc::getuid()` - POSIX standard function
- **Behavior:** Returns the real user ID of calling process
- **Safety:** Pure read-only query, no side effects

- **Platform:** Unix/Linux only (guarded by conditional compilation)
**Memory safety:**
- No memory allocation or deallocation
- No pointer dereferencing
- No buffer access
- Cannot fail or panic
- Deterministic return value
**Verdict:** ✅ SAFE - Standard POSIX call, read-only, no memory operations

**Purpose:** Initialize file attributes with current process owner/group
**Frequency:** Called once per file attribute creation
**Risk:** None - these are standard POSIX queries

### correction.rs - ✅ SAFE
**Purpose:** Algebraic correction layer for bit-perfect reconstruction.
**Key components:**
- `CorrectionStore` - Manages correction data for engram reconstruction
- `CorrectionStats` - Metrics for correction efficiency
- `ReconstructionVerifier` - Validates bit-perfect reconstruction
- Hash-based lookup for corrections
**Memory safety:**
- Pure Rust implementation
- HashMap and SHA256 for safe key generation
- No pointer arithmetic or raw memory access
- Serialization via serde (safe)
**Verdict:** No unsafe code, fully safe Rust.

## Platform Considerations
### FUSE Integration
The fuse_shim.rs module has conditional compilation:

### Optional Enhancements
