## Overview

Successfully extracted the CLI implementation (1,174 LOC) from `/home/kang/Documents/projects/github/embeddenator/src/cli.rs` to the new `embeddenator-cli` component located at:

- **Extract**: Bit-perfect reconstruction from engrams  
- **Query**: Similarity search with bucket sweep and hierarchical support
- **QueryText**: Text-based query convenience wrapper
- **BundleHier**: Hierarchical artifact generation
- **Mount**: FUSE filesystem interface (requires `fuse` feature)

### ⚠️ Stub Implementations (Requires embeddenator-fs updates)
- **Update Add**: Incremental file addition - returns error message
- **Update Remove**: File removal - returns error message

## Missing Dependencies in embeddenator-fs

The following methods are referenced in the original CLI but not present in the current `embeddenator-fs` component:

1. **`EmbrFS::add_file()`** - Incremental file addition
2. **`EmbrFS::remove_file()`** - File removal/marking as deleted
3. **`EmbrFS::modify_file()`** - File modification
4. **`EmbrFS::compact()`** - Engram compaction to reclaim space

### Resolution Strategy
These methods were referenced in the original `cli.rs` but appear to be planned features. The extracted CLI currently returns helpful error messages indicating:
- The feature is not yet implemented
- Which method needs to be added to embeddenator-fs
- Suggests using full re-ingestion as a workaround

When these methods are implemented in `embeddenator-fs`, uncomment the stub implementations in `update.rs`.

## Error Handling

All command handlers follow consistent error handling:
- Return type: `anyhow::Result<()>`
- Automatic error context propagation using `?` operator
- User-friendly error messages for missing features
- Exit code 1 on any error (via main.rs)

## Key Improvements from Monolithic Implementation

4. **Component-Based**: Uses Phase 2A component libraries exclusively
5. **Feature Flags**: FUSE support properly gated behind `fuse` feature
6. **Documentation**: Each module and command well-documented

## Next Steps

1. **Implement Missing Methods in embeddenator-fs**:
   - Add `add_file()`, `remove_file()`, `modify_file()`, `compact()` methods
   - Update `update.rs` to use these methods instead of error stubs

2. **Testing**:
   - Add integration tests for each command
   - Add unit tests for utility functions
   - Test FUSE mount functionality

3. **Documentation**:
   - Add man pages or detailed command documentation
   - Add examples directory with sample workflows

4. **Integration**:
   - Add embeddenator-cli to workspace Cargo.toml
   - Update CI/CD to build and test the CLI component
   - Consider publishing to crates.io

None. All 1,174 LOC of functionality has been successfully extracted and modularized, with clear documentation of features requiring implementation in dependent components.
