Install

Add to Cargo.toml:

deepseek-sdk = "0.4"

By default all API modules are enabled. To compile only what you need:

Vision (Multimodal Input)

User messages accept either plain text ("Hi".into()) or a list of content parts: text, image URLs, and references to uploaded files. Vision requests use a vision-capable model such as deepseek-v4-flash-vision-exp.

UserContentPart::file_id("file-api-...") references an image uploaded via the Files API (see below), and UserContentPart::file_data(data_url, filename) embeds a base64 data URL directly.

The Responses API currently supports the deepseek-v4-flash model and uses the same base URL.

Streaming Responses

DeepSeek streams the Responses API as semantic server-sent events. The final event is response.completed / response.incomplete / response.failed — there is no data: [DONE].

All requests return DeepSeekError on failure, covering:

  • API error payloads (Api)
  • HTTP errors (Http)
  • Decode errors (Decode)
  • Transport failures (Transport)
  • Local filesystem failures (Io)

All public error enums are marked #[non_exhaustive] — new variants may be added without a breaking semver change.
