Which codec ColumnEncoder::encode_timestamps_with should use.

The float equivalent lives in chronix_core::config::FloatEncoding because it is a user-facing knob; this one is not (yet) reachable from configuration, and exists so the codec that lost the default can still be produced on demand — by the tests that measure it, by a tool that has to write a segment in the old shape, and by anyone re-running the comparison when pco next changes.

Variants

Auto

Trial-encode pco and delta-of-delta, keep the smaller, ties to pco.

Pco

Always Pcodec (EncodingType::PcoI64).

DeltaOfDelta

Always delta-of-delta (EncodingType::DeltaOfDelta).

Plain

No compression (EncodingType::PlainI64).
