# Publishing Plan for cc2report
This document outlines the steps to publish cc2report to crates.io and prepare for public release.
## Pre-Publication Checklist
### 1. Code Quality & Testing

- [ ] Code formatted (`cargo fmt`)
- [ ] Documentation complete (`cargo doc --open`)

### 3. Cargo.toml Verification
- [x] Version number correct (2.2.0)

## Publishing Steps
### Phase 1: Final Preparations
1. **Create examples directory**

2. **Add integration tests**

cargo test --all
```
3. **Update dependencies**
```bash
cargo update
cargo outdated
```
4. **Security audit**
```bash
cargo install cargo-audit
cargo audit
```
5. **Generate documentation**
```bash
cargo doc --no-deps
```
### Phase 2: GitHub Release
1. **Create git tag**
```bash
git tag -a v2.2.0 -m "Release version 2.2.0"
git push origin v2.2.0
```
2. **Create GitHub Release**
- Go to GitHub releases page
- Create new release from tag
- Add release notes from CHANGELOG.md
- Attach pre-built binaries (optional)
3. **Add GitHub Actions CI/CD**
- Create `.github/workflows/ci.yml`
- Add tests, clippy, fmt checks
- Add release workflow for binaries
### Phase 3: Crates.io Publication
1. **Dry run**

cargo publish --dry-run
```
2. **Login to crates.io**
```bash
cargo login
```
3. **Publish**
```bash
cargo publish
```
4. **Verify publication**
- Check https://crates.io/crates/cc2report
- Test installation: `cargo install cc2report`
### Phase 4: Post-Publication
1. **Update installation instructions**
- Add `cargo install cc2report` to README
- Update any installation scripts
2. **Announce release**
- GitHub discussions/issues
- Reddit (r/rust, r/commandline)
- Twitter/X

## Common Issues & Solutions
### Issue: Binary too large
**Solution**: Use release build with optimizations

**Solution**: Ensure all required fields in Cargo.toml
### Issue: Documentation incomplete
