bookmark 0.1.4

Interactive bookmark manager with knowledge graph generation from browser bookmarks and history
Documentation
# Implementation Summary - MCP Server & Library API

## Overview

Successfully implemented three usage modes for the bookmark manager:
1. **CLI Tool** - Command-line interface (existing, enhanced)
2. **Library API** - Rust library for programmatic use (new)
3. **MCP Server** - Model Context Protocol server for AI assistants (new)

## What Was Implemented

### 1. MCP Server (`src/mcp.rs`)

**Features:**
- JSON-RPC 2.0 protocol implementation
- Stdin/stdout communication
- Five core tools:
  - `export_bookmarks` - Export from browsers
  - `search_bookmarks` - Search by query
  - `list_browsers` - List available browsers
  - `process_bookmarks` - Deduplicate and organize
  - `generate_graph` - Generate knowledge graphs

**Binary:** `src/bin/bookmark-mcp.rs`

### 2. Library API (`src/lib.rs`)

**Public API:**
- `BookmarkManager::new()` - Create manager instance
- `BookmarkManager::with_export_dir()` - Set export directory
- `BookmarkManager::export_bookmarks()` - Export from browser
- `BookmarkManager::search()` - Search bookmarks
- `BookmarkManager::graph_from_bookmarks()` - Generate graphs

**Helper Functions:**
- `search_bookmarks_internal()` in `src/search.rs`
- `SearchOptions` struct for search configuration

### 3. Build Configuration (`Cargo.toml`)

**Structure:**
```toml
[lib]
name = "bookmark"
[[bin]]
name = "bookmark"          # CLI tool
required-features = ["cli"]
[[bin]]
name = "bookmark-mcp"      # MCP server
required-features = ["mcp"]
[features]
default = ["cli"]
cli = ["clap", "dialoguer", "open"]
mcp = []
```

**Benefits:**
- Library can be used without CLI dependencies
- MCP server is optional feature
- Clean separation of concerns

### 4. Testing

**Test Suite:**
- **Unit tests**: 39 tests (all passing)
- **Integration tests**: `tests/integration_test.rs` (3 tests)
- **MCP tests**: `tests/mcp_test.rs` (2 tests)
- **Test script**: `test_all_modes.sh` (comprehensive)

**Example:**
- `examples/library_usage.rs` - Library API demonstration

### 5. Documentation

**Created:**
- `docs/MCP_SERVER.md` - Complete MCP server guide
- `docs/LIBRARY_API.md` - Library API reference
- `docs/index.html` - Documentation landing page
- Updated `README.md` - All three modes
- Updated `TODO.md` - Completed items tracked

## Build Commands

### CLI Tool (Default)
```bash
cargo build --release
./target/release/bookmark --help
```

### MCP Server
```bash
cargo build --release --features mcp --bin bookmark-mcp
./target/release/bookmark-mcp
```

### Library Only
```bash
cargo build --release --lib
```

### All Modes
```bash
cargo build --release --all-features
```

## Test Results

All tests passing:
```
✓ CLI binary built successfully
✓ MCP server binary built successfully
✓ Library built successfully
✓ All unit tests passed (39 tests)
✓ Integration tests passed (3 tests)
✓ MCP tests passed (2 tests)
✓ CLI executable works
✓ Library API works
✓ MCP server binary exists
```

## Usage Examples

### CLI Mode
```bash
bookmark export --browser chrome
bookmark search github
bookmark graph --format dot -o graph.dot
```

### Library API
```rust
use bookmark::BookmarkManager;
let manager = BookmarkManager::new();
let bookmarks = manager.export_bookmarks("chrome")?;
let results = manager.search("github")?;
let graph = manager.graph_from_bookmarks(&bookmarks)?;
```

### MCP Server
```json
{
  "jsonrpc": "2.0",
  "method": "tools/call",
  "params": {
    "name": "search_bookmarks",
    "arguments": {
      "query": "github",
      "limit": 10
    }
  }
}
```

## Key Design Decisions

1. **Feature Flags**: Used Cargo features for clean separation
2. **Optional Dependencies**: CLI deps only loaded when needed
3. **Shared Core**: All modes use same underlying modules
4. **DRY Principle**: No code duplication between modes
5. **Test Coverage**: Each mode has dedicated tests

## Performance

- Library mode: No CLI overhead
- MCP server: Minimal dependencies
- All modes: Share optimized core code

## Next Steps (Future)

See `TODO.md` for planned enhancements:
- Password export implementation
- Additional browser support (Brave, Vivaldi, Opera)
- Performance optimizations
- Enhanced error handling

## Verification

Run the comprehensive test:
```bash
./test_all_modes.sh
```

Expected output: All tests pass ✓

## Version

- **Current**: v0.1.2
- **Features Added**: MCP server, Library API, Multi-mode build
- **Tests**: 44 total (39 unit + 3 integration + 2 MCP)
- **Documentation**: Complete for all modes
