## Version 0.4.0 Highlights

### AST-Based Code Summarization
The headline feature of 0.4.0 is intelligent, syntax-aware code summarization using tree-sitter parsers:

**Supported Languages:**
- Rust: Functions, structs, traits, implementations, modules
- Python: Functions (inc. async/decorators), classes, imports
- JavaScript: Functions, classes, arrow functions, ES6 modules
- TypeScript: All JS features + interfaces, types, enums, generics

**Benefits:**
- More accurate than regex-based extraction
- Understands code structure at AST level
- Essential for AI code analysis workflows
- Configurable detail levels (minimal, standard, detailed)

### Enhanced Context Tracking
- New `truncated_by_context` field in JSON output
- Tracks when content is truncated by AI context window fitting
- Improves transparency for LLM integrations

### Documentation Improvements
- Fixed critical CLAUDE.md documentation mismatches
- Added 23 CLI documentation tests to prevent drift
- All documented examples now verified by tests

## Breaking Changes
None - this is a feature addition release.

## Upgrade Path
Standard cargo update - no migration needed.

## Known Issues
- TypeScript/TSX files may not be auto-detected (use --language=JavaScript as workaround)
- AST summarization requires tree-sitter parsers (adds ~2MB to binary)

## Performance Impact
- Startup time: No significant change (<5ms maintained)
- Memory: Constant due to streaming architecture
- Binary size: +2MB due to tree-sitter parsers (acceptable trade-off)

## Future Roadmap
- v0.4.1: Bug fixes and performance optimizations
- v0.4.2: Additional language support (Java, C++, Go)
- v0.5.0: Plugin architecture for extensibility
