# CLI Commands

## Global options

```
adnv [OPTIONS] <COMMAND>
```

| Option | Env | Default | Description |
|--------|-----|---------|-------------|
| `-c, --config <PATH>` | `ADNV_CONFIG_FILE` | `adnv.yml` | Path to config file or directory containing one |
| `--version` | | | Print version info |
| `--help` | | | Print help |

## `outdated`

Scan current directory for outdated dependencies.

```
adnv outdated [OPTIONS]
```

| Option | Short | Description |
|--------|-------|-------------|
| `--recursive` | `-r` | Scan subdirectories recursively |
| `--hidden` | `-H` | Include hidden directories in scan |

**Output**: Table grouped by source type (Terraform modules, providers, Helm charts, inline hints) with columns: Source, Current, Wanted, Latest, Location.

## `update`

Auto-update outdated dependency versions in-place.

```
adnv update [OPTIONS]
```

| Option | Short | Description |
|--------|-------|-------------|
| `--recursive` | `-r` | Scan subdirectories recursively |
| `--hidden` | `-H` | Include hidden directories in scan |

Modifies `.tf` and `Chart.yaml` files directly. Only updates fixed version strings (skips ranges).

## `check`

Monitor package repositories for new releases.

```
adnv check [OPTIONS] [SOURCES...]
```

| Option | Description |
|--------|-------------|
| `--last <DURATION>` | Time window (e.g., `24h`, `7days`, `2weeks`, `5months`) |
| `--since <DATE>` | RFC3339 date (e.g., `2024-01-01T00:00:00Z`) |
| `--include <REGEX>` | Keep only versions matching this regex |
| `--exclude <REGEX>` | Skip versions matching this regex |
| `--output <NAME>` | Send results to named output backend |

`--include` and `--exclude` compose: a version has to match every `--include`
given and none of the `--exclude`.

Sources can be passed as CLI arguments or loaded from `check` section in config file.

A source that could not be reached is reported and makes the command exit
non-zero, after the sources that were reached have been processed and sent to
the outputs.

## `run`

Execute workflow steps from configuration file.

```
adnv run
```

Requires a config file with a `workflow` section. Steps are executed sequentially, each containing an ordered list of actions.

## Exit codes

| Code | Meaning |
|------|---------|
| 0 | Success |
| 1 | Error (parsing, network, configuration), or a source `check` could not reach |
