# Memory Leak Analysis Report

## Issue Description

The data processor module is exhibiting continuous memory growth during batch processing operations, leading to eventual system crashes after processing large datasets.

## Symptoms Observed

- Memory usage grows linearly with processing time
- No memory is freed after batch completion
- System becomes unresponsive after ~2GB memory usage
- Issue occurs specifically in the `process_batch()` function

## Investigation Findings

### Potential Causes
1. **Unclosed Database Connections**: Connection pool may not be returning connections properly
2. **Large Object Retention**: Processed data objects may be held in memory unnecessarily
3. **Event Listener Accumulation**: Event handlers might be accumulating without cleanup

### Code Locations
- `src/processors/batch_processor.rs:156-234` - Main processing loop
- `src/database/connection_pool.rs:78-92` - Connection management
- `src/events/processor_events.rs:45-67` - Event handler registration

## Recommended Solutions

1. **Immediate Fix**: Add explicit connection cleanup in finally blocks
2. **Medium Term**: Implement streaming processing to reduce memory footprint
3. **Long Term**: Add memory monitoring and automatic garbage collection triggers

## Testing Plan

1. Run memory profiler during batch processing
2. Create synthetic test with large dataset
3. Verify memory cleanup after batch completion
4. Load test with multiple concurrent batches
