Per-breakpoint sizing and truncation policy for the cockpit overlay.

Design rationale (1mfw3.3.3): The inspector overlay must remain readable across terminal widths from 40 to 200+ columns. Rather than hard-coding dimensions, each LayoutBreakpoint × CockpitMode pair yields a topology that controls overlay size, label verbosity, and content density.

Key decisions:

  • Narrow (<80w) uses single-char tab labels (T L H R D B G) to fit in 42 cols.
  • overlay_min_w=20 / overlay_min_h=6 gates auto-disable for tiny terminals.
  • Expanded mode doubles timeline capacity vs Overlay for deeper inspection.
  • Footer hints are hidden on Narrow/Overlay to maximize content rows.

Fields§

§overlay_max_w: u16

Maximum width of the overlay box (clamped to available area).

§overlay_max_h: u16

Maximum height of the overlay box.

§overlay_min_w: u16

Below this width, the overlay is auto-disabled.

§overlay_min_h: u16

Below this height, the overlay is auto-disabled.

§use_short_labels: bool

Use single-char abbreviations instead of full tab labels.

§show_mode_indicator: bool

Show [cockpit]/[expanded] mode indicator in the title bar.

§max_timeline_events: u16

Max timeline events shown in the Timeline tab.

§label_width: u16

Character budget for row labels (e.g. “Strategy”, “Frame/Bgt”).

§show_footer_hint: bool

Whether to render the keyboard-hint footer row.
