Outcome of reconciling a configured VectorBackendKind against whether the diskann cargo feature was actually compiled in.

Variants

Ok

The backend doesn’t need diskann (e.g. plain HNSW), or the feature is compiled in — no mismatch.

StubDegraded

DiskAnn/Hybrid configured without the feature: falls back to the brute-force stub. vector.strict = false (default): warn and continue.

StubRejected

Same mismatch, but vector.strict = true: boot must fail rather than silently downgrade to O(n) scans.
