Lifecycle state of a signing key inside cheers’s published JWKS.

Active keys are the ones cheers verifies tokens against without caveat. Retiring keys are still served in the JWKS (because in-flight tokens signed under them must still verify) but no consumer should mint new tokens with them — once retire_at has passed, prune_retired_keys drops them from the table and the next JWKS publication no longer includes them.

Variants (Non-exhaustive)

Non-exhaustive enums could have additional variants added in future. Therefore, when matching against variants of non-exhaustive enums, an extra wildcard arm must be added to account for any future variants.
