Expand description

Stable semantic categories for protocol failures. Transport errors stay outside the core; callers must allow future variants of this non-exhaustive enum.

Variants (Non-exhaustive)§

This enum is marked as non-exhaustive
Non-exhaustive enums could have additional variants added in future. Therefore, when matching against variants of non-exhaustive enums, an extra wildcard arm must be added to account for any future variants.
§

InvalidArgument

A caller value or options combination is invalid.

§

InvalidPin

PIN/PUK bytes violate applet input rules.

§

InvalidResponse

Response framing or semantic content is malformed.

§

ProtocolViolation

The exchange sequence violates its conversation rules.

§

LimitExceeded

A frame, input, response, nesting, or exchange budget was exceeded.

§

AuthenticationFailed

Explicit credential verification failed; retry information may be present.

§

DeviceAuthenticationFailed

The card’s mutual-authentication cryptogram did not match the host challenge.

§

PinBlocked

A credential reference is blocked.

§

SecurityStatusNotSatisfied

Required authentication/security state is absent.

§

ConditionsNotSatisfied

The card reports unmet execution conditions.

§

NotFound

A requested applet object/reference was not found.

§

UnsupportedDevice

The required applet/device could not be selected.

§

UnsupportedFeature

A capability or instruction is known to be unavailable.

§

UnsupportedAlgorithm

The requested algorithm cannot be used for this operation.

§

CapabilityUnknown

Available evidence cannot establish required capability support.

§

UnsupportedProtocolVersion

An observed format/version is not understood (including certificate encoding).

§

UnexpectedStatusWord

An unmapped status was returned; inspect Error::status_word or Error::application_status.

§

OperationStateError

A local lifecycle method was called in an invalid state.
