Write-completion mode — how long a write op blocks before it returns.

API convention: writes take wait (this enum); reads take trace: bool. They are never both on one op. On a write, waiting and the trace payload are one decision — the only reason to wait for async derivation is to observe it — so a single wait knob controls both. On a read there is no async to wait for, so trace is a pure observability toggle with no timing effect.

Variants

Ack = 0

Return after the durable sync ack; async derivation runs in the background. The fast default (omitted from the wire map).

Derived = 1

Block until async derivation completes, then return the full trace.
