Rectangle3

Struct Rectangle3

Source
pub struct Rectangle3 {
    pub origin: Point3,
    pub x: Vec3,
    pub y: Vec3,
}
Expand description

A planar rectangle in three-dimensional space.

Stored as a corner and two edge vectors rather than four corners, so the parallelogram property holds by construction and cannot drift as corners are edited independently. Whether x and y are perpendicular is not enforced: an importer may produce a sheared quad, and refusing it here would lose data the caller may still want to inspect or repair.

Fields§

§origin: Point3

Corner the edge vectors start from.

§x: Vec3

First edge vector, from origin.

§y: Vec3

Second edge vector, from origin.

Implementations§

Source§

impl Rectangle3

Source

pub const fn new(origin: Point3, x: Vec3, y: Vec3) -> Self

Construct from a corner and two edge vectors.

Source

pub fn corners(&self) -> [Point3; 4]

The four corners, counter-clockwise about normal.

Source

pub fn normal(&self) -> Vec3

Unnormalized normal of the plane the rectangle lies in.

Source

pub fn area(&self) -> Scalar

Area of the rectangle, which is the parallelogram area when sheared.

Source

pub fn center(&self) -> Point3

Centre point.
