When writing a match expression against FindingDiscardReason, it is important to ensure
your code is forward-compatible. That is, if a match arm handles a case for a
feature that is supported by the service but has not been represented as an enum
variant in a current version of SDK, your code should continue to work when you
upgrade SDK to a future version in which the enum does include a variant for that
feature.
Here is an example of how you can make a match expression forward-compatible:
# let findingdiscardreason = unimplemented!();
match findingdiscardreason {
FindingDiscardReason::CompensatingControlPresent => { /* ... */ },
FindingDiscardReason::DuplicateOfClosedIssue => { /* ... */ },
FindingDiscardReason::DuplicateOfOpenIssue => { /* ... */ },
FindingDiscardReason::FalsePositiveValidatedAgainstContext => { /* ... */ },
FindingDiscardReason::InsufficientEvidence => { /* ... */ },
FindingDiscardReason::OutOfScope => { /* ... */ },
FindingDiscardReason::ProcessingFailed => { /* ... */ },
FindingDiscardReason::ScannerNeedsReview => { /* ... */ },
FindingDiscardReason::ScannerValidatedFalsePositive => { /* ... */ },
FindingDiscardReason::SourceRepoNotFound => { /* ... */ },
other @ _ if other.as_str() == "NewFeature" => { /* handles a case for `NewFeature` */ },
_ => { /* ... */ },
}The above code demonstrates that when findingdiscardreason represents
NewFeature, the execution path will lead to the second last match arm,
even though the enum does not contain a variant FindingDiscardReason::NewFeature
in the current version of SDK. The reason is that the variable other,
created by the @ operator, is bound to
FindingDiscardReason::Unknown(UnknownVariantValue("NewFeature".to_owned()))
and calling as_str on it yields "NewFeature".
This match expression is forward-compatible when executed with a newer
version of SDK where the variant FindingDiscardReason::NewFeature is defined.
Specifically, when findingdiscardreason represents NewFeature,
the execution path will hit the second last match arm as before by virtue of
calling as_str on FindingDiscardReason::NewFeature also yielding "NewFeature".
Explicitly matching on the Unknown variant should
be avoided for two reasons:
- The inner data
UnknownVariantValueis opaque, and no further information can be extracted. - It might inadvertently shadow other intended match arms.
Why a finding was not escalated into an issue. Present only when status is DISCARDED.
Variants (Non-exhaustive)§
This enum is marked as non-exhaustive
CompensatingControlPresent
The weakness is real, but an existing control in the environment makes it non-actionable in practice.
DuplicateOfClosedIssue
The finding matches an issue that was already reviewed and closed.
duplicateOfIssueId names that issue.
DuplicateOfOpenIssue
The finding describes the same problem as an already-open issue and was
folded into it. duplicateOfIssueId names that issue.
FalsePositiveValidatedAgainstContext
After deeper analysis against the environment’s context, Continuum concluded the finding is not a real, exploitable issue here.
InsufficientEvidence
Continuum could not confidently judge the finding; a re-scan is recommended.
OutOfScope
Real, but not in the assets Continuum is responsible for.
ProcessingFailed
Continuum could not complete processing for this finding.
ScannerNeedsReview
The validator could not reach a confident verdict at ingestion, so the finding was set aside rather than escalated.
ScannerValidatedFalsePositive
Continuum’s validator determined at ingestion that the reported behavior is not actually present.
SourceRepoNotFound
The finding’s file path does not belong to any repository in the environment’s latest successful build, so Continuum cannot tie it to source code. Configure the repository as an environment source, then submit the finding again.
Unknown(UnknownVariantValue)
Don’t directly match on Unknown. See the docs on this enum for the correct way to handle unknown variants.
Unknown contains new variants that have been added since this code was generated.
Implementations§
Source§impl FindingDiscardReason
impl FindingDiscardReason
Sourcepub fn try_parse(value: &str) -> Result<Self, UnknownVariantError>
pub fn try_parse(value: &str) -> Result<Self, UnknownVariantError>
Parses the enum value while disallowing unknown variants.
Unknown variants will result in an error.
