How persisted operations are treated.

Variants

Disabled

Free-form documents only. A hash-only request is refused with PERSISTED_QUERY_NOT_SUPPORTED so the client falls back to sending the full document.

Automatic

Apollo Automatic Persisted Queries: a client may send only a sha256Hash; on a miss it re-sends the document, which is verified and cached. Free-form documents are still accepted. Trusted documents from a manifest are served too.

Trusted

Trusted documents (a safelist): only operations whose hash is in the manifest may run, whether the client sends the hash or the full text. Everything else is refused with OPERATION_NOT_ALLOWLISTED.
