Distance from the query vector (lower = more similar). Renamed from score for astraeadb-issues.md #6: the TCP JSON wire format has always called this distance, and the two names disagreeing across transports caused the gRPC bridge to silently read 0.0 when it couldn’t find a field named score. distance is now the single canonical name on both transports.

BREAKING: this is a source-breaking rename (field number/type unchanged, so the binary wire is compatible; clients must regenerate stubs). Cross-language client bindings (go/, java/, python/) that read .score / getScore() still target the old field name until they are migrated separately.
