Coarse classification of the route by which a peer’s traffic reached us.

Derived by matching the transport source address of an incoming message against the typed dial addresses the DHT phonebook holds for that peer. See P2PNode::classify_peer_transport_route.

This is a provenance label for logging and metrics. It is not an identity signal and must not be used for trust scoring or routing decisions.

Variants

Relay

Traffic arrived via the peer’s MASQUE relay address.

Direct

Traffic arrived via the peer’s direct public IP address.

Lan

Traffic arrived via a LAN or other local-scope address.

Unverified

Traffic arrived via an address whose reachability is unverified.

Unknown

The transport source is absent, non-IP, or does not match any address the local phonebook holds for the peer.
