pub enum CandidateSource {
Discourse,
WorldKnowledge,
Bridging,
Accommodation,
Cataphoric,
}Expand description
How a candidate antecedent was identified.
Different sources may have different reliability or require different handling during resolution.
§Example
use anno::discourse::uncertain_reference::{ReferenceCandidate, CandidateSource};
// Explicit antecedent from prior text
let discourse = ReferenceCandidate::new(1, "John", 0.9)
.with_source(CandidateSource::Discourse);
// Inferrable via bridging ("the door" after "a room")
let bridging = ReferenceCandidate::new(2, "door#42", 0.7)
.with_source(CandidateSource::Bridging);
// Known from world knowledge ("the president")
let world = ReferenceCandidate::new(3, "POTUS", 0.8)
.with_source(CandidateSource::WorldKnowledge);Variants§
Discourse
From explicit antecedent in prior discourse. E.g., “John” mentioned in previous sentence.
WorldKnowledge
From world knowledge or common ground. E.g., “the sun”, “the president” — identifiable without prior mention.
Bridging
From bridging inference based on discourse relations. E.g., “the door” after “John entered a room” — inferred part-whole.
Accommodation
From accommodation — adding a new entity to the discourse model based on context (Lewis 1979).
Cataphoric
From cataphoric (forward) reference resolution. E.g., “When she arrived, Mary…” — resolved after seeing “Mary”.
