Handshake: identifies the connecting node
Fields§
§node_id: String§auth_tag: Vec<u8>Retained at its original field number for safe protobuf field evolution. Since protocol v2 this field must be empty; the challenge-bound proof is carried in HelloAuth.
min_protocol_version: u32Inclusive wire-version range understood by this peer. Both are nonzero; a connection proceeds only when the ranges overlap.
max_protocol_version: u32§capabilities: u64Feature bitset. Required bits are checked before either side installs the connection, so mixed binaries fail closed rather than mis-acknowledging mutations or replication.
challenge: Vec<u8>Fresh 256-bit challenge generated independently for every physical connection. Both peers’ complete Hellos are bound into each HelloAuth.
