Enum ContentPart

Source
#[non_exhaustive]
pub enum ContentPart { Text { text: String, }, Blob { mime_type: String, data: Vec<u8>, name: Option<String>, }, Uri { mime_type: String, uri: String, name: Option<String>, }, }
Expand description

One part of a message.

#[non_exhaustive]: the set grows with what providers accept. Build one with text, blob or uri.

Variants (Non-exhaustive)§

This enum is marked as non-exhaustive
Non-exhaustive enums could have additional variants added in future. Therefore, when matching against variants of non-exhaustive enums, an extra wildcard arm must be added to account for any future variants.
§

Text

Prose.

Fields

§text: String
§

Blob

Bytes carried in the request itself, with the MIME type that says how to read them.

Every provider caps how much it will take this way (a few megabytes); past that the file belongs behind a Uri.

Fields

§mime_type: String

The MIME type, e.g. image/png, application/pdf. Required: it is what decides how each provider frames the bytes, and a provider given no type has nothing to guess from.

§data: Vec<u8>
§name: Option<String>

The file name, where there is one. Sent where the provider has a field for it; a model reads it as a label.

§

Uri

Bytes the provider fetches, named by URI.

Gemini takes any MIME type this way. OpenAI takes only images; anything else reaches the model as a line of text naming the file, because there is no field on that API to put it in.

Fields

§mime_type: String

Implementations§

Source§

impl ContentPart

Source

pub fn text(text: impl Into<String>) -> Self

Source

pub fn blob(mime_type: impl Into<String>, data: Vec<u8>) -> Self

Source

pub fn uri(mime_type: impl Into<String>, uri: impl Into<String>) -> Self

Source

pub fn named(self, file_name: impl Into<String>) -> Self

The same part with a file name attached. No-op on a text part, which has nothing to name.

Source

pub fn as_text(&self) -> Option<&str>

The text of a text part; None for anything else.

Source

pub fn mime_type(&self) -> Option<&str>

The MIME type, for a part that has one.

Source

pub fn name(&self) -> Option<&str>

The file name, for a part that was given one.
