Translate only the proved network member identity/display semantics into the local repeated-field1 representation. Caller proves roster completeness (for example, a separate complete member identity list in the server reply). Unknown root/member protobuf chunks, existing owner and unrelated contact fields are retained byte-for-byte. No network version is guessed into opaque fields.
