Physical plans for scans.
A plan is a tree of physical operators over a row domain. Operator identity and operator-specific state do not depend on the source layout kind, so rewrites can reason about a plan’s shape alone. The common child container can initialize individual slots lazily.
operator defines the execution contracts, operators implements the concrete sources
and stages, and pipeline compiles and runs them.
Modules§
- operator
- Contracts and execution context for pipeline sources and operators.
- optimizer
- Static rewrite rules for physical plans.
- pipeline
- Push-based execution of physical plans as pipelines.
Structs§
- Concat
- Concatenates its children row-wise.
- Concat
Data - Row offsets of each concatenated child.
- Eval
- Applies an expression to the output of its child.
- Eval
Data - The expression evaluated by an
Eval. - Filter
- Keeps only the selected rows of its child.
- Filter
Data - Operator-specific data for a
Filterplan. - Legacy
Stats - Data alongside a legacy
vortex.statszone table, whose fields are named byStatrather than by aggregate function. - Legacy
Stats Data - Legacy-stats-plan-specific data.
- List
Pack - Assembles a list from elements and offsets, plus an optional trailing validity child.
- List
Pack Data - Operator-specific list assembly data.
- Pack
- Assembles a struct from one child per field, plus an optional trailing validity child.
- Pack
Data - Operator-specific struct assembly data.
- Plan
- A typed, shared handle to a plan operator.
- Plan
Children - Ordered plan children that may be initialized one slot at a time.
- Plan
Indented Formatter - Access to a formatter together with the indentation for detail lines.
- Plan
Parts - Pieces used to construct a typed plan.
- PlanRef
- Shared, erased handle to a plan operator.
- Plan
Summary Extractor - Adds the plan’s display representation to a tree node’s header.
- Plan
Tree Context - Tree traversal context that records only the current depth.
- Plan
Tree Display - Composable display builder for a physical plan tree.
- RowIdx
- Generates global row indices for the current execution row domain.
- RowIdx
Data - Operator-specific data for a
RowIdxplan. - Segment
Scan - Reads one serialized array segment.
- Segment
Scan Data - Data needed to read and decode a single segment.
- Share
- Produces its child’s whole value once per split, as a
SharedArraythat the split’s later scans reuse. - Share
Data - Operator-specific data for a
Shareplan. - Take
- Indexes
valuesbycodes, with children ordered as[codes, values]. - Zoned
- Reads data alongside the zone statistics summarising it.
- Zoned
Data - Zoned-plan-specific data.
Traits§
- Plan
Tree Extractor - Contributes one composable dimension of information to tree nodes.
- PlanV
Table - Operator-specific behavior for a typed
Plan.
Functions§
- lower
- Lowers
layoutinto a physical plan. - optimize
- Optimizes
plan, preserving its dtype and row domain. - plan_
row_ idx_ expression - Plans an expression over a data source and its global row-index domain.
- row_
idx_ dtype - Returns the dtype of a generated row index.
Type Aliases§
- Concat
Plan - A plan that concatenates its children row-wise.
- Eval
Plan - A plan that applies an expression to its child.
- Filter
Plan - A plan that keeps only the selected rows of its child.
- Legacy
Stats Plan - A plan that pairs data with a legacy stats zone table.
- List
Pack Plan - A plan that assembles a list from its children.
- Pack
Plan - A plan that assembles a struct from its children.
- PlanId
- A unique identifier for a plan operator.
- RowIdx
Plan - A childless source of global row indices supplied by its execution row domain.
- Segment
Scan Plan - A plan that reads one serialized array segment.
- Share
Plan - A plan that shares its child’s value between executions.
- Take
Plan - A plan that indexes one child by another.
- Zoned
Plan - A plan that pairs data with its zone statistics or represents a zone-backed pruning proof.
