Plant Functional Types (PFTs) — standardized species parameterization.
PFTs group species with similar ecological strategies into parameter sets. This is the standard approach in all major vegetation models (LPJ-GUESS, JULES, ED2). Consumers use PFTs to configure growth, photosynthesis, allocation, and mortality without specifying dozens of individual parameters.
