SQL column identities, declared types, and logical slot layouts.
Modules§
- check_
inheritance - CHECK definition merging at CREATE and ALTER inheritance boundaries.
- columns
PostgreSQLcolumn-name and stored-type declaration rules.- composites
- The attribute checks of
DefineCompositeTypeinPostgreSQL’s order:MergeAttributesrejects too many attributes and then a repeated name,BuildDescForRelationresolves each attribute’s type, requiresUSAGEon it, derives its collation and rejectsSETOF, andCheckAttributeNamesTypesthen rejects pseudo-types. - constraint_
changes - Locate durable constraints and analyze changes to their type, identity, and enforcement metadata.
- constraint_
metadata - Normalize durable constraint names and identities through a caller-owned identity allocator.
- constraint_
views - Effective constraint views over stored column and table declarations.
- constraints
- Shared CREATE/ALTER validation for table constraints.
- defaults
- Column default validation and binding, as
cookDefaultanalyzes a default: the expression is checked for what a default cannot contain, reduced to a constant when it is one, and coerced to the column’s type in assignment context. - dependencies
- Traverse stored expressions and recognize their column dependencies.
- domains
- Domain declaration validation, inherited defaults, and constraint binding.
- expressions
- Shared stored-expression analysis. SQL retains the original bound syntax; a planner-owned copy decides immutability and constant partition keys.
- foreign_
keys - Bind foreign-key declarations, select referenced keys, and validate REFERENCES privileges.
- foreign_
servers PostgreSQLforeign-server declaration options and deletion authority.- foreign_
tables - Foreign-table declaration validation over fresh schema binding scopes and loaded sequence names.
- foreign_
wrappers PostgreSQLwrapper declaration checks over exact catalog routine identities.- generated
PostgreSQL18 generated-column validation and row computation.- indexes
- Immutable index-expression binding in the indexed table’s declared row type.
- inheritance
- CREATE TABLE inheritance and partition row-type preparation.
- join_
output - Static layouts shared by qualified joins and physical output shaping.
- keys
- Declaration and identity rules for newly added PRIMARY KEY and UNIQUE constraints.
- namespaces
- Namespace declaration rules independent of catalog storage.
- referenced_
partitions - The constraints a foreign key derives on the partitions of the partitioned table it references, named and identified as
PostgreSQL’saddFkRecurseReferencedandCloneFkReferencedcreate them and removed asDetachPartitionFinalizeandAttachPartitionForeignKeyremove them. - relation_
alteration - Native view and foreign-table alteration targets and relation rename declarations.
- removal
- DROP relation target binding and label protection.
- retention
- Cancellable admission of immutable catalog column generations and their owned SQL payloads.
- sequences
- SQL sequence declarations, names, and ownership binding.
- table_
alteration - Bind inherited ALTER declarations and their durable constraint identities.
- table_
creation - CREATE TABLE column validation and CREATE TABLE AS result declarations.
- truncate
- TRUNCATE target expansion, partition rules and foreign-key dependency ordering.
- type_
objects - Targets of
ALTER TYPE | DOMAINandGRANT | REVOKE ... ON TYPE | DOMAIN: the user-defined type a name resolves to, andPostgreSQL’s diagnostics for the types a command cannot change. Each command applies the checks in its ownPostgreSQLorder. - view_
creation - View target namespaces, replacement row types, and materialized-view declarations.
Structs§
- Column
Identity - Structured SQL column identity. A qualifier is metadata, never a prefix encoded into the column name, so quoted names containing
.remain intact. - Column
Type Schema - Zero-allocation view matching
RowSchema::with_typesfor the supplied unqualified column definitions. Names and declared types, including domains and nested arrays, stay borrowed from their existing owner. Duplicate exact names remain ambiguous; dots in an identifier do not create a relation qualifier. - Physical
Layout - RowSchema
- Immutable column layout shared by an operator and all of its batches.
- Schema
Binding Context - Routine metadata and immutable namespace inputs for schema expression binding.
- Schema
Layout Error - Invalid schema layout supplied by a planner or a persisted row layout.
Enums§
- Projected
Slot - Physical source of one scalar-projection output. Direct input slots stay in the child row; only computed values extend its physical layout.
Traits§
- Scalar
Type Schema - Borrowed schema operations used by scalar type propagation and binding. Physical schemas retain their complete alias, ambiguity, open-column and executor-attribute behavior; declared column slices supply an unqualified positional namespace without allocating another schema generation.
- Schema
Expression Catalog - Definition lookup and planner capability for stored schema expressions.
Type Aliases§
- Record
Fields - A record’s analyzed field types. Runtime values cannot distinguish SQL integer widths or a NULL field’s declared type.
