Apply .preference(key:value:) with a runtime-synthesized key.
The key type carries a PreferenceKey conformance built by
crate::conformance at run time, and its Value is Int. No Swift
source declares it, which is the whole point: this is the one family of
modifiers that expects the client to supply a conformance.
