.navigationSplitViewStyle(.automatic) NavigationSplitView { sidebar } content: { content } detail: { detail }.

The three-column shape — a sidebar, a list, and the selected item — which is what a Mail or Notes window is. Only the two-column initialiser was bound, pinning the middle column to EmptyView, so the middle one could not be filled at all.

All three are () -> some View closures, so each is a function-and-context pair; the metadata and witnesses follow in generic order behind them.
