Forcibly and immediately stops the thread, without any cleanup.

kill_thread_graceful^⚠Unix

Only kills the thread if it has enabled cancellation, then performs cleanup. See man pthread_cancel for more information.

suspend_thread^⚠Windows

Suspends the thread.
