pub fn normalize_query_name(name: &str) -> Result<String>Expand description
Normalizes a DNS query name exactly like normalize_host, but also
accepts the RFC 4592 wildcard label: * as the whole leftmost label
(*.example.com).
Querying a wildcard owner name is ordinary DNS (dig *.example.com
returns the wildcard’s own records), so record lookups and the other
per-name DNS paths accept it. Per-host probes (ssl, status, …) keep
normalize_host: * names no host they could connect to. A *
anywhere else (a*.example.com, a.*.example.com) is still rejected.
A single label is accepted when written absolute (com.), so a TLD’s own
records can be queried.
