ask on stdin that waits at most timeout for the answer. Returns None when no answer came in time.

The read runs on a thread of its own, which stays behind, blocked on stdin, when the time runs out. Use it only as the process’s last question (the exit question about the Ghola sidecar).

Errors

Returns the write or read error.
