range_parse: the key word empty, or a bracket or a parenthesis, the lower bound, a comma, the upper bound and a bracket or a parenthesis. White space before and after the range is not part of it. A bound with no characters is infinite. A bound can have characters in double quotes, and a backslash takes the next character as it is.
