Puts the summary of state in place of the messages of
conversation before keep_from (every message with None), earlier
summaries included: one user entry by summary_author, a splice it
makes, followed by an aside of kind COMPACTED that says what it
replaced (Compacted), so undo_summary can put that back.
None, changing nothing, when keep_from was taken out meanwhile or
state has no summary.
