Module build 

Building boxes and lists (TeX: The Program §1055–§1135, with e-TeX’s and LuaTeX’s changes).

LuaTeX differences implemented here (established with black-box tests):

• a paragraph starts with a local paragraph node (\localpar), then the indentation box;
• \- takes its pre-break text from the language’s \prehyphenchar and its penalty from \exhyphenpenalty; \discretionary takes \hyphenpenalty (both at the time the node is made) and accepts an optional penalty <int>;
• \hpack, \vpack and \tpack build boxes like \hbox, \vbox and \vtop but without node processing;
• the boundary commands append boundary nodes, and start a paragraph in vertical mode.
