Starts the application: preferences come from the platform’s config folder, the text is compiled in, and the runtime drives the screens until the person leaves.
The gates of the design are asked here, before the first frame, because they decide what the first frame is: a setup wizard or the home screen. They read the disk and start the container engine, which is why they are asked once, on the way in, and never while drawing.
