Rebuild the main index while holding the same process lock used by stores. The append log is removed only after a successful build.
heavy controls regenerating the expensive deterministic sidecars
(embedding vectors + structural fingerprint links). The auto-rebuild path
passes false: it consolidates the append log fast and drops stale
positional sidecars instead of re-serving them after a content shift.
