Expand description

Compute ChangesReport for mem_name, whose gix repository lives at git_dir. since is any gix-resolvable commit spec (commit SHA, ref name, HEAD~1, …) plus the empty-tree sentinel.

Error policy:

  • Unknown since ref → VcsError::ObjectNotFound.
  • Empty repository (no HEAD) + non-sentinel since → same.
  • Empty repository + sentinel since → empty report (head echoes the sentinel). Matches the “nothing committed yet, nothing to diff” contract so fresh clients don’t crash on a brand-new mem.
