Module message_types 

iMessages can represent different kinds of data. This module defines types for those data.

Modules

app

App messages are messages that developers can generate with their apps. Some built-in functionality also uses App Messages, like Apple Pay or Handwriting.

app_store

These are the link previews that iMessage generates when sending links to apps in the App Store.

collaboration

These are the link previews that iMessage generates when sending Collaboration links, i.e. from Pages or Freeform.

digital_touch

Digital Touch messages are animated doodles, taps, fireballs, lips, heartbeats, and heartbreaks.

edited

Logic and containers for the message_summary_info of an edited or unsent iMessage.

expressives

Expressives are effects that you can select by tapping and holding the send button.

handwriting

Handwritten messages are animated doodles or messages sent in your own handwriting.

music

These are the link previews that iMessage generates when sending Apple Music links.

placemark

These are the link previews that iMessage generates when sending locations or points of interest from the Maps app.

polls

These are the poll messages generated by the iOS 26 (or newer) Polls app.

sticker

These are sticker messages, either from the user’s sticker library or sticker apps.

text_effects

Effects that can alter the appearance of message text.

translation

Translated messages generated by the iOS 26 (or newer) translations feature.

url

These are the link previews that iMessage generates when sending links.

variants

Variants represent the different types of iMessages that exist in the messages table.
