The paused operation that must finish before HEAD may move to another branch or commit.

Merge, rebase (grit’s or git’s), am, cherry-pick and revert all keep state that refers to the current HEAD; moving it would make their continue step commit onto the wrong branch. A bisect does not block a switch.

Parameters

• git_dir — the (per-worktree) git directory.

Errors

Returns Error::Io when an operation sentinel cannot be read.
