  • expand_dots
    Expand “.” and “..” into nothing and parent directory, respectively.
  • expand_ndots
    Expands any occurrence of more than two dots into a sequence of ../ (or ..\ on windows), e.g., “…” into “../..”, “….” into “../../../”, etc.
