Module migration

Source
Expand description

Profile migration, mirroring js/src/browser/migration/index.js.

Copies a person’s data from a real browser profile into a dedicated target profile, one data class at a time, and returns the report shape documented in docs/cli-and-bridge.md. Nothing is ever written to the source profile, and every database read goes through a consistent read-only snapshot, so the migration is safe to run while the source browser is open.

Cookies are returned (not written): a running Chromium re-derives its own cookie encryption, so the launcher seeds them over CDP with the existing seed_cookies path. Every other data class is written into the target profile directory.

Structs§

KeystoreHooks
The OS keystore calls a migration makes. The defaults use the same command-stream backed readers as read_browser_cookies.
MigrateProfileOptions
Options for migrate_profile.
MigratedCounts
Per-class migrated counts.
MigrationEntry
One skipped item or warning in a migration report.
MigrationKeys
Injected password keys (keys in the JavaScript API).
MigrationReport
The full result of migrate_profile, including the cookies to seed.
MigrationReportSource
The source a migration read from.
MigrationSource
Where to migrate from (from in the JavaScript API).
MigrationSummary
A migration report without its cookies, as launch_real_browser returns it (the cookies are seeded, never echoed back).
PrimaryPasswordError
A primary (master) password blocks decryption.
TargetKey
A target profile’s encryption key and the version prefix to write.

Constants§

ALL_DATA_CLASSES
Every data class a migration can copy, in the order they run.
DBSC_BOUND_COOKIE_NAMES
Rotating Google session-token cookies that DBSC binds to the device key.
MIGRATED_PREFERENCE_PATHS
Dotted paths copied from the source Preferences into the target.

Functions§

migrate_profile
Migrate a browser profile into a dedicated target profile directory.

Type Aliases§

CookieReader
Reads installed-browser cookies; the default is read_browser_cookies.
SafeStoragePasswordReader
Reads a Safe Storage password for (browser, platform).
SourceKeyResolver
Resolves the source profile’s decryption key for an encryption prefix (v10/v11). Linux uses a hardcoded key for v10 and the keyring for v11. Keys are cached per prefix, including failures.
WindowsKeyReader
Reads and DPAPI-unwraps the key in a Windows Local State file.
