Profile migration, mirroring js/src/browser/migration/index.js.
Copies a person’s data from a real browser profile into a dedicated target
profile, one data class at a time, and returns the report shape documented
in docs/cli-and-bridge.md. Nothing is ever written to the source profile,
and every database read goes through a consistent read-only snapshot, so the
migration is safe to run while the source browser is open.
Cookies are returned (not written): a running Chromium re-derives its own
cookie encryption, so the launcher seeds them over CDP with the existing
seed_cookies path. Every other data class is written into the target
profile directory.
Structs§
- Keystore
Hooks - The OS keystore calls a migration makes. The defaults use the same
command-stream backed readers as
read_browser_cookies. - Migrate
Profile Options - Options for
migrate_profile. - Migrated
Counts - Per-class migrated counts.
- Migration
Entry - One skipped item or warning in a migration report.
- Migration
Keys - Injected password keys (
keysin the JavaScript API). - Migration
Report - The full result of
migrate_profile, including the cookies to seed. - Migration
Report Source - The source a migration read from.
- Migration
Source - Where to migrate from (
fromin the JavaScript API). - Migration
Summary - A migration report without its cookies, as
launch_real_browserreturns it (the cookies are seeded, never echoed back). - Primary
Password Error - A primary (master) password blocks decryption.
- Target
Key - A target profile’s encryption key and the version prefix to write.
Constants§
- ALL_
DATA_ CLASSES - Every data class a migration can copy, in the order they run.
- DBSC_
BOUND_ COOKIE_ NAMES - Rotating Google session-token cookies that DBSC binds to the device key.
- MIGRATED_
PREFERENCE_ PATHS - Dotted paths copied from the source Preferences into the target.
Functions§
- migrate_
profile - Migrate a browser profile into a dedicated target profile directory.
Type Aliases§
- Cookie
Reader - Reads installed-browser cookies; the default is
read_browser_cookies. - Safe
Storage Password Reader - Reads a Safe Storage password for
(browser, platform). - Source
KeyResolver - Resolves the source profile’s decryption key for an encryption prefix
(
v10/v11). Linux uses a hardcoded key forv10and the keyring forv11. Keys are cached per prefix, including failures. - Windows
KeyReader - Reads and DPAPI-unwraps the key in a Windows
Local Statefile.
