Collapse runs of per-token text chunks that were stored before they were
merged on the way in. Rebuilds the list through push_content_chunk, so
it applies exactly the same merge rule and leaves chunk boundaries that
carry real differences (a new message ID, non-text content, differing
metadata) where they are.
