Welcome to the Amazon Pinpoint SMS and Voice, version 2 API Reference. This guide provides information about Amazon Pinpoint SMS and Voice, version 2 API resources, including supported HTTP methods, parameters, and schemas.

Amazon Pinpoint is an Amazon Web Services service that you can use to engage with your recipients across multiple messaging channels. The Amazon Pinpoint SMS and Voice, version 2 API provides programmatic access to options that are unique to the SMS and voice channels and supplements the resources provided by the Amazon Pinpoint API.

If you’re new to Amazon Pinpoint, it’s also helpful to review the Amazon Pinpoint Developer Guide. The Amazon Pinpoint Developer Guide provides tutorials, code samples, and procedures that demonstrate how to use Amazon Pinpoint features programmatically and how to integrate Amazon Pinpoint functionality into mobile apps and other types of applications. The guide also provides key information, such as Amazon Pinpoint integration with other Amazon Web Services services, and the quotas that apply to use of the service.

Regional availability

The Amazon Pinpoint SMS and Voice, version 2 API Reference is available in several Amazon Web Services Regions and it provides an endpoint for each of these Regions. For a list of all the Regions and endpoints where the API is currently available, see Amazon Web Services Service Endpoints and Amazon Pinpoint endpoints and quotas in the Amazon Web Services General Reference. In each Region, Amazon Web Services maintains multiple Availability Zones. These Availability Zones are physically isolated from each other, but are united by private, low-latency, high-throughput, and highly redundant network connections. These Availability Zones enable us to provide very high levels of availability and redundancy, while also minimizing latency. To learn more about the number of Availability Zones that are available in each Region, see Amazon Web Services Global Infrastructure.

§Getting Started

The SDK provides one crate per AWS service. You must add Tokio as a dependency within your Rust project to execute asynchronous code. To add aws-sdk-pinpointsmsvoicev2 to your project, add the following to your Cargo.toml file:

Until the SDK is released, we will be adding information about using the SDK to the Developer Guide. Feel free to suggest additional sections for the guide by opening an issue and describing what you are trying to do.

§Crate Organization

The entry point for most customers will be Client, which exposes one method for each API offered by Amazon Pinpoint SMS Voice V2. The return value of each of these methods is a “fluent builder”, where the different inputs for that API are added by builder-style function call chaining, followed by calling send() to get a Future that will result in either a successful output or a SdkError.

Some of these API inputs may be structs or enums to provide more complex structured information. These structs and enums live in types. There are some simpler types for representing data such as date times or binary blobs that live in primitives.

All types required to configure a client via the Config struct live in config.

The operation module has a submodule for every API, and in each submodule is the input, output, and error type for that API, as well as builders to construct each of those.

There is a top-level Error type that encompasses all the errors that the client can return. Any other error type can be converted to this Error type via the From trait.

The other modules within this crate are not required for normal usage.
