Variants

Inline

Tools are executed inline by the SDK (the default local-agent behavior).

External

Tool calls are returned to the caller for external execution.

When set, run_turn yields TurnOutcome::PendingToolCalls instead of executing tools itself. The server is responsible for running tools and calling run_turn again.
